I am a North Carolina artist with a passion for both painting and the environment. Currently, I am working on two series, one of which features landscapes of North Carolina. These works include vineyards of the Yadkin Vally Appellation and lakes, where I attempt to capture the morning fog. I do both plein air paintings of the landscapes and larger studio works in which I work to recapitulate the freshness and sensory qualities I experience when I am painting from life.
Impressionism and Tonalism are the art movements that most deeply resonate with me, being points of departure for my work, which is largely contemporary realism. In addition to the Impressionists/Tonalists, my influences are the Ashcan School, Richard Schmid, Joachim Sorolla, John Singer Sargent, and Edward Hopper.
